RSync Pro

Last updated: June 9, 2026

The short version: RSync Pro is built so that your data stays yours. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your information. Everything the app stores — your sync configurations, SSH keys, and logs — stays on your Mac. When you run a sync, your files travel directly between your Mac and the destination you choose. They never pass through us.

1. Who we are

RSync Pro is developed and published by Y. Ben David (BD TECH). This policy explains how the app handles information. Questions? support@bdtech.app.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal data. The app contains:

  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers
  • No third-party tracking or marketing SDKs
  • No account, sign-in, or registration
  • No telemetry sent to the developer

We never see your files, folder names, server addresses, credentials, or how you use the app.

Crash diagnostics

If you have chosen to share diagnostics with app developers in macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may make anonymized, aggregated crash reports available to us through Apple's systems. This is operated by Apple, is opt-in, and contains no information that identifies you.

3. Information the app stores on your device

To do its job, the app saves the following locally on your Mac, inside its sandboxed container. This information never leaves your device except as you direct:

  • Sync configurations — profile names, source and destination folder paths, and, for remote syncs, the server host name, user name, and port you enter.
  • Security-scoped bookmarks — macOS references that let the app reopen the folders you granted access to, across launches.
  • SSH keys — key pairs the app generates, or existing keys you select, for connecting to your own servers.
  • App settings — your preferences, such as the idle-timeout option.
  • Logs — records of your sync runs, kept locally so you can review what happened.

You can delete any of this at any time from within the app, and removing the app deletes all of it.

4. Network connections

The app connects only to destinations you explicitly configure:

  • Your servers. When you run a remote sync or test a connection, the app connects to the server you specified, over SSH. Your files and credentials are sent only to that server — never to us or to any third party.
  • Local network discovery (optional). If you use "Discover on network", the app uses Bonjour to look for computers on your local network. This scan happens entirely on your Mac; results are not sent anywhere.

The app does not contact any server operated by the developer.

5. SSH keys and passwords

  • SSH private keys created or used by the app are stored locally in the app's container and protected by file permissions.
  • If you authenticate with a password, it is used only to make that connection, held transiently, never transmitted to the developer, and not retained beyond the operation.

6. Third-party services

The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud services. The file-transfer engine bundled with the app (openrsync) is open-source software that runs locally on your Mac and sends nothing to its authors or to us.

7. Children's privacy

The app is a general-purpose utility, is not directed to children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored locally, you are in full control. Uninstalling RSync Pro removes the app and all its locally stored data from your Mac.

9. Security

The app runs inside the macOS App Sandbox, which limits its access to your system. SSH connections are made in an isolated configuration, and credentials and keys are stored within the app's protected container.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
