1. Data collection

We collect nothing. The app has no account, no sign-in, and no server of ours holding anything about you. We do not receive your name, your email address, your location, or any record of which texts you open or how you use the app. No analytics, advertising or tracking software is included in the app.

2. Network connections

Reading the texts never touches the network. The entire library ships inside the application bundle, so opening a daf, a chapter or a commentary is a local file read.

The app makes exactly one kind of outbound request: the automatic update check. To find out whether a newer version has been released, it fetches a small XML file from storage.bdtech.app, which is hosted on Cloudflare R2. That request carries no personal data and no identifier — it sends nothing about you and nothing about what you have been learning. Like any request to any web server, it does reveal your IP address and the app version to the host, and Cloudflare may log it as part of operating the service. If an update is available, the app asks you before downloading or installing it.

The update check runs when the app launches and about once a day thereafter. Updates are verified with a cryptographic signature before they are installed.

3. Data stored on your device

The app stores no personal content. The only thing written outside the application itself is the update mechanism's own bookkeeping — whether the app has been launched before, when it last checked for updates, and a random number used to spread update checks over time. These live in ~/Library/Preferences/com.yybd.sfarim.plist.

To remove everything, move the app to the Trash and delete that preferences file.

4. Accounts and purchases

The app is free. There is no account to create, no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no payment mechanism of any kind — so there is no billing information for us to hold.

5. Third-party services

The app embeds no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDK. It uses two pieces of third-party software, neither of which is a service that receives your data:

• Sparkle — the open-source framework that performs the update check described above. It runs on your Mac and talks only to our own update feed.
• pdf.js — the open-source renderer that draws the Talmud pages. It runs entirely on your Mac.

Our update feed and the app download are hosted on Cloudflare, as described in section 2.

6. Children

The app is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
