Siddur Pure Intention

1. Data collection

We collect nothing. The app has no account, no sign-in and no server of ours behind it. We do not receive your name, your email address, your location, your prayer settings or any record of your use of the app. No analytics, advertising or tracking software is included in the app.

2. Location

If you grant location access, the app uses your device's location to show the halachic times (zmanim) and the direction to Jerusalem. The time calculations are performed entirely on your device. To display your city name only, your coordinates may be sent to a geocoding service — on iPhone, Apple's own location service (CLGeocoder); in the browser version, BigDataCloud. The Android app sends your coordinates nowhere at all — when it cannot name your city from the list built into the app, it simply shows "Your location". The city name is a display convenience only — the zmanim do not depend on this service. You can use the app without granting location and choose a city from a list instead, and you may revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings or Android Settings.

The app declares the location permissions it needs on each platform — NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription on iOS, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION and ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION on Android — and asks for location only while you are using it. Your coordinates are not stored by us and are not shared with anyone else.

3. Compass and device sensors

The direction to Jerusalem uses your device's compass and orientation sensors. On iPhone, iOS asks for your permission the first time you open the compass. The readings are used only to draw the compass on screen — they are not recorded and never leave the device.

4. Text you enter, and sharing

Any text you type yourself — for example a name in the "Prayer Request" feature — is stored and displayed on your device only and is not sent to any server of ours.

If you choose to share a prayer request, the app hands the message you composed to your device's share sheet or mail app, and from there it goes to whichever app and recipient you pick. That step is always initiated by you, and the content is under your control before it is sent.

5. Network connections

The app works fully offline. The prayer texts, the Hebrew calendar (hebcal), the zmanim calculations and the fonts are all bundled inside the app — nothing is fetched from a font service, a content server or an API in order to pray. The only outbound connection the app can make on its own is the optional city-name lookup described in section 2, and only on Android and in the browser. Links you tap (credits, support) open in your device's external browser or mail app.

6. Data stored on your device

The app keeps your preferences on the device: the chosen nusach, the interface language, your location or chosen city, the "with minyan" setting, which zmanim and which sections you have hidden, and your place in Tehillim — along with any text you entered. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted off it, and is removed when you delete the app.

7. Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
