Snippet

Last updated: June 21, 2026

The short version: Snippet collects no personal data, shows no ads, and has no accounts. Your snippets and templates stay on your device and sync only through your own iCloud account; sensitive ones can be encrypted behind Face ID or Touch ID. All of the app's AI runs on-device through Apple Intelligence — the text you save and the text Smart Fill captures are never sent to a server. We have no analytics and no tracking of any kind.

1. Data we collect

We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal data. Snippet contains:

  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers
  • No third-party tracking or marketing SDKs
  • No account, sign-in, or registration
  • No telemetry sent to the developer

We never see your snippets, your templates, or how you use the app.

2. Your snippets and where they live

The snippets, templates, categories, and colors you create are stored on your device. They are not held on any server operated by us — we run none for this app. They reach your other devices in only one way:

  • iCloud sync — if you are signed in to iCloud, your library syncs across your own Mac, iPhone, and iPad through your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it.
  • On-device sharing — the iOS keyboard and Share extension read the same library through a private app group container that exists only on your device.

3. Category encryption (Face ID / Touch ID)

You can lock a category so that it and all of its snippets are encrypted. This is handled entirely on your device:

  • Snippets in a locked category are encrypted with AES-GCM using Apple's CryptoKit. The encryption key is stored in your iCloud Keychain and is never transmitted to us.
  • Unlocking, copying, or editing an encrypted snippet requires Face ID or Touch ID. The check is performed by the system through Apple's Local Authentication framework — the app never receives your biometric data.
  • You can always read, copy, and remove encryption from snippets you have already locked, even without Pro, so an expired purchase can never strand your data.

4. On-device AI processing

Snippet uses Apple Intelligence to help organize your library and fill your templates. Every one of these features runs locally on your device through Apple's on-device foundation models — nothing is sent to a server, and no developer-side API key or account is involved:

  • Categorization and coloring reads a new snippet's content and your existing category names to suggest a category, on your device.
  • Title and tag suggestions are generated on your device while you edit; tags stay user-owned.
  • Smart Fill takes text you have selected, extracts the values for your template's fields, and inserts them. The captured text is held only transiently in memory for that single operation — it is never saved, logged, or transmitted.

These features require an Apple Intelligence-capable device. Where Apple Intelligence is unavailable or the language is unsupported, the AI steps are simply skipped and you organize manually — nothing about you is sent anywhere in either case.

5. The iOS keyboard and Share extension

On iPhone and iPad, Snippet includes a custom keyboard and a Share extension. Both are built to keep your typing private:

  • The custom keyboard does not request Full Access. Without Full Access it has no way to send anything you type off your device; it can only read your saved snippets from the on-device shared container to insert them.
  • The Share extension saves text you explicitly share to it into your snippet library on your device. It acts only on what you choose to share.

6. Purchases

Snippet is free to use. Pro is a one-time In-App Purchase — a Universal Purchase that unlocks on both Mac and iOS from a single purchase. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or have access to your payment information, card details, or billing address — we only receive confirmation from Apple that Pro is active on your account.

7. Personal information

Snippet does not require an account, email address, sign-in, or any personal information to use any of its features.

8. Network connections

Snippet does not connect to any server operated by us. Your snippets, the text Smart Fill captures, and everything the on-device AI processes stay on your device. The only network activity is Apple's own services that you control through your Apple Account — iCloud sync and App Store purchasing. There is no developer-operated server for the app to contact.

9. Third-party services

Snippet uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud services. The frameworks it relies on — Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models), CryptoKit, Local Authentication, StoreKit, and iCloud — are part of Apple's operating system and run on your device or within your own Apple Account.

10. Data retention and deletion

Because we store nothing about you, there is no personal data for us to retain or delete. Your snippets live in the app's container on your device and, if you enabled it, in your iCloud account. Deleting the app removes its local data from that device; to remove synced copies, delete the snippets within the app or manage your app data in iCloud settings. The app's own preferences are stored locally and are removed when you delete the app.

11. Children's privacy

Snippet is a general-purpose productivity app, is not directed to children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
